Our 'Stressed cells' temporary tattoo was designed for the Sawarkar lab to represent their research as part of the Tattoo my Science project.
Stressed cellsCells get stressed too! When they are exposed to chemicals from the environment, like the medicines we take, they respond so they can survive those stressful conditions. We are trying to understand this stress response by looking at the differences in RNA (the temporary copy of our DNA instructions) before and after, and what the cell is changing to survive. We hope to use this information to develop new RNA-based therapeutics that can avoid certain side effects. Design by Oski Singh |
Sawarkar labChromatin control of environmental stress response We aim to understand the different ways in which our cells respond to chemicals from the external environment such as the drugs we take. We hope to identify how we can avoid side-effects of drugs especially RNA therapeutics like anti-sense oligos and mRNA vaccines. |
