Each year, researchers from across the Unit come together for our annual Science Day. As part of that, the Unit presents several prizes in recognition of success over the past year. Those awards include a Public Engagement and Science Communication prize and our Science-Art prize winners.

Our Public Engagement and Science Communication Prize is awarded to scientists that have gone above and beyond to maximise the impact of their work. Individuals are nominated by their peers internally before a winner is selected by a judging panel including both internal and external representatives.

Our Science-Art prizes are awarded to the best creative entry that tells the story of the research that we do at the Unit. Entries can be a microscopy image, a photograph, a video or any other creative endeavour. Two prizes are awarded annually. The judges choice winner is selected by a judging panel made up of a scientist, science communicator and an artist, and our audience winner is selected by a popular vote including all Unit members.
