Researchers from the Unit took part in the Big Biology Day at Hills Road Sixth Form College on 12th October.

We brought along our Human Bookshelf activity and turned 8 of our scientists into 'human books' for the day. Visitors were able to loan our books for conversations about their research topics, what it is like to be a scientist or to get some career advice. We had conversations with over 75 people about our research on the gut microbiome, neurodegeneration, immunotherapies, food-borne pollution, an asbestos-linked cancer called mesothelioma, histopathology and more.

We also brought along our science comic books which were a big hit. So far, we have two comic books that tell stories about work we do at the Unit and why it is important with more to come over the coming months.

Huge thank you to our volunteers on the day who brought our research to life as 'human books'. Thanks to Daniel, Ty, Emily, Leah, Noni, Juan Carlos, Indra and Emma.

If you have an event that you would like us to bring our Human Bookshelf along to, please get in touch. We would love to hear from you: communications@mrc-tox.cam.ac.uk
