Exam Halls - University of Cambridge Admissions Office, New Museums site, Bene't Street, CB2 3PT

You are invited to join the MRC Toxicology Unit team and explore more about air pollutants and what they are doing to our lungs!

Meet scientists from the MRC Toxicology Unit to discover the different types of pollutants and how the cells in our lungs adapt when exposed.

Discover what the inside of your lungs actually looks like using virtual reality and make your own model of the lungs to discover how they work. Once you have made some lungs, you can peer down a microscope to see the tiny cells that they are made of and some of the pollutants that are in the air we breathe. Finally, explore what happens when lung cells are exposed to these pollutants and how our researchers are trying to piece this puzzle together!

You will also be able to try out our brand new toxicology game (which is still waiting for a name!) and talk to some of our other researchers about the other research happening right now to help make our medicines and environment safer! Who knows, you might even have a fun, temporary tattoo to take away with you too!

Come along for free!

Get involved with some fun, family-friendly activities and use real microscopes, play and create and find out about amazing scientific work going on right here in Cambridge from the scientists themselves!

This event will be be run in collaboration with the University of Cambridge and the 2023 Cambridge Festival.

Date:
