Our 'Antibodies' temporary tattoo was designed for the Thaventhiran lab to represent their research as part of the Tattoo my Science project.

Antibodies

Antibodies like these are made by special cells in the blood called B cells, and like us, they come in different shapes and sizes. They recognise elements that don't normally 'live' in our bodies, like bacteria, viruses and cancer cells, bind to them and stop them from doing damage.

We look at which types of antibody are made when we are exposed to cancer or a certain disease, and whether that changes in someone with a faulty immune system.

Immune-related adverse event mechanisms

We study the mechanisms underlying immune-related
adverse events associated with immunotherapy. Enhanced understanding of such adverse events will facilitate better risk prediction, enabling researchers to minimise drug attrition during
development and improve the safety of immunotherapies.
