The Unit's Affiliated Memberships aim to facilitate or enhance long-term collaborations between scientists and experts from across the world with the MRC Toxicology Unit and its groups. Affiliated Members are linked to a group and provide the Affiliates with access to the Unit, its expertise and wider opportunities, making them highly valued members of the Unit's research community.

 

Biography:

Professor Tim Gant is Head of the Toxicology Department at the Centre for Radiation, Chemical and Environmental Hazards, UK Health Security Agency, Visiting Professor in Biomedical Sciences at the University of Surrey, Honorary Senior Research Fellow of the Imperial/KCL MRC/UK Health Security Agency for Environment and Health, and Honorary Reader in Genetics at the University of Leicester. He received his undergraduate (Pharmacology and Toxicology joint hons) from the University of London, School of Pharmacy and PhD in Pharmacology also from the School of Pharmacy. He is also a European Registered Toxicologist and Fellow of the British Society of Toxicology and a Member of the American Society of Toxicology. He has experienced postdoctoral periods with the National Cancer Institute, Bethesda USA (1988 to 1993) and Medical Research Council (1993 to 2002). He was appointed Tenure and group leader (2002 to 2011) with the Medical Research Council before moving to work with the Health Protection Agency (2011) and Public Health England (2013) to pursue interests in the translation of science to intervention and policy, research in government and the prevention of disease (public health).
