Research Interests:

Nobu’s research in the Unit is based on “EM-based nano-toxicology” for visual understanding the role of endocytosis at the plasma membrane and membrane recycling among the intracellular organelle compartments affected by toxins or drugs for mesothelioma in immune-oncology and neurogenerative diseases as well. Nobu’s EM covers a whole range of cellular tissues from the mouse brain to the signalling receptor-complexes by using both classic and advanced microscopy from deep-etch EM and cryo-EM (single particle analysis and tomography). Nobu’s future goal is to determine the atomic structure of crucial membrane machinery (caveolae with MSK) and chromatin complex in situ by the hybrid EM correlation, as well as to establish a lesion detection system under EM resolution by a template matching method toward tumour and neurogenerative diseases.
