Biography:

I obtained my BSc Biomedicine, MSc Molecular Medicine, and MPhil Pharmacy at University of East Anglia in Norwich. I have also conducted multiple small research projects during summer breaks and part-time during my studies. My BSc project was with Dr Andrew Hemmings working on the crystallization of the HECT domain on the WWP2 protein involved in TGFβ signaling. My MSc projects was with Dr Samuel Fountain working on P2X4 receptors involved in chronic pain and inflammation. My MPhil was working with Dr Christopher Hamilton and Prof. Tracey Chapman on garlic-derived diallyl polysulfides, their biochemical mode of action and application for green insecticides. In 2018 I worked with University of Cambridge as a research assistant with Prof. Stephen Elliot (Department of Chemistry) and Prof. Peter Hutchinson (Department of Clinical Neuroscience) at Addenbrooke's hospital NCCU ward taking measurements of cerebral fluid via microdialysis from TBI patients to monitor brain metabolite concentrations using a novel infrared sensor device. This involved analytical chemistry, micro-engineering, and micro-fluidics. In February 2020 I joined the Histopathology department at Addenbrooke's hospital as a associate practitioner where I developed my histopathology skills until October 2023 where I joined the Histopathology core facility at MRC Toxicology unit.

Research interests:

I have a wide range of interest but primarily in biomedical based biochemistry. I have conducted multiple research projects and worked in many laboratories, mostly in analytical chemistry and molecular biology. I worked at Addenbrooke's hospital for over 4 years; a year on the NCCU ward and over 3 years in the Histopathology department. I have a keen interest in pathology from assisting many clinical cases and post mortems. I like to use my technical skills to facilitate understanding and potentially develop therapeutics in human pathology.
