Statistical mining of Adverse Event Reporting System (AERS) could lead to a better understanding of drug action mechanism as well as to better understanding of various factors which can affect the risk of Adverse Event in relation to a drug administration.

However, exploration of the AERS data by a wide scientific community is limited due to several factors. First, AERS data must be intensively preprocessed to be converted into analyzable format. Second, application of the currently accepted disproportional reporting measures results in a huge number of false positive signals, thus, supporting common opinion of low reliability of AERS data. We proposed a data mining strategy to test the false/true positive nature for the detected signals. We implemented a free online tool, AERS spider . We believe that the tool will be appealing for clinical scientists as well as for broad scientific research audience.
