Dr Kirsti Hornigold

Kirsti manages the Prosperity Partnership, a £3.4 million MRC grant that aims to understand the safety profile of advanced therapeutics, a collaboration between the MRC Toxicology Unit and Department of Biochemistry at the University of Cambridge, AstraZeneca, Cancer Research UK Scotland Institute, and the Mary Lyon Centre at MRC Harwell. Kirsti also manages the Integrative Toxicology Training Partnership (ITTP) PhD programme which is a UK-wide training programme for capacity building in Toxicology and co-chairs the MRC Toxicology Unit’s Postgraduate Education Committee, providing support to the Unit's postgraduate students. Kirsti leads the Toxicology Unit’s knowledge transfer and exchange activities, working closely with industrial partners and external stakeholders to initiate, develop, and maintain strategic collaborations that advance the Unit’s scientific mission.

Kirsti joined the MRC Toxicology Unit in November 2020, she previously worked at the Babraham Institute as a Senior Research Scientist, at Babraham Bioscience Technologies as a Senior Postdoctoral Scientist, in the School of Pharmacy at the University of Nottingham as a Lecturer, at the University of Nottingham as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow and in the Department of Oncology/MRC Toxicology Unit at the University of Leicester as a Research Assistant. Kirsti completed her PhD at the Babraham Institute in Cell Signalling and both her BSc and MRes in Physiology and Pharmacology at the University of Leicester.
