Roy Kurtzbard

Roy is a PhD student at the University of Cambridge, working between the Sawarkar Lab (MRC Toxicology Unit) and the Morimoto Lab at Northwestern University. He holds an MPhil in Biological Sciences from the University of Cambridge and an MEng in Biomedical Engineering from King's College London. Prior to his PhD, he gained experience in biotech investing and venture capital, including work at NJF Capital.

Roy’s research uses computational and data-driven approaches to investigate how the proteostasis network (PN) shapes healthy ageing. Building on the annotated human PN developed by the Proteostasis Consortium, he integrates multi-omic datasets, including proteomics and transcriptomics, to identify age-dependent remodelling of distinct PN branches. In parallel, he studies proteostasis architecture in model organisms such as C. elegans and yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae) to examine evolutionary conservation and divergence of proteostasis dynamics across ageing and disease.
